Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of Confident Group chairman C J Roy has found no death note or diary at the crime scene, and preliminary evidence points to a clear case of suicide, a senior officer close to the investigation, told DH.
The officer also told DH, a pistol and a live cartridge were found under the chair inside Roy’s office cabin, and investigators found no signs of forcible entry or the presence of outsiders before the incident.
No suicide note was recovered during the spot inspection and more than 48 hours search was conducted to gather crucial evidences including CCTV footage entire the premises.
The SIT has been given a free hand to probe the case comprehensively to ascertain the circumstances that led Roy to take the extreme step, the officer added.
As a part of the investigation, SIT officials are likely to question Roy’s family members, including his wife, who is said to have detailed knowledge of his financial records and business affairs.
‘No proof, no death note’
“There are rumours about a nine-page death note and a 20-page diary. We will treat it as a death note only if it is found at the spot or if any electronic evidence is recovered during the investigation. If anyone makes unsubstantiated claims about such documents, we will not consider them,” a senior SIT officer said.
