Lakhimpur Kheri violence case: SIT arrests 2 in connection with lynching of BJP workers

The SIT probing theLakhimpurKheri violence case on Tuesday arrested two people in connection with the lynching of BJP workers, according to a statement issued by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

Eight people were killed in the October 3 violence and of them four were farmers, allegedly knocked down by a vehicle carrying BJP workers. Angry farmers then allegedly lynched some people in the vehicles. (PTI)

HC says Elgar Parishad accused Varavara Rao needn't surrender till November 18

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday said poet Varavara Rao, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case who is on interim bail, need not surrender before the Taloja prison authorities until November 18 and adjourned the hearing on a plea filed by him to next month. Rao, 82, had been granted interim bail for six months on medical grounds by the HC on February 22 this year. (PTI)
