Delhi on Tuesday reported 917 Covid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 19.20 per cent and three deaths due to the infection, according to data shared by the city health department.

India is concerned over the visit of a Chinese satellite tracking ship to Sri Lanka's Hambantota port as it signals an attempt by China to expand its maritime influence in the region, sources in defence and security establishment said on Tuesday.
The ship, Yuan Wang 5, arrived at the strategically located port on Tuesday morning for a replenishment stay for a week, Sri Lankan officials said in Colombo.
However, sources in the Indian defence and security establishment said the aim of the ship's visit cannot be only replenishment and that it could be used to snoop on Indian installations. (PTI)
US First Lady Jill Biden tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms, the White House said on Tuesday, adding that President Joe Biden has continued to test negative after recently recovering from the virus.
The 71-year-old First Lady tested negative earlier on Monday as part of her regular testing routine, but a PCR test taken after she developed cold-like symptoms came back positive, her spokesperson Elizabeth Alexander said. (Reuters)

Iraq's finance minister resigned on Tuesday, two government officials said, over the country's worst political crisis in years involving an influential Shiite cleric and his Iran-aligned rivals.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations, said Finance Minister Ali Allawi resigned during a Cabinet meeting Tuesday to protest the political conditions. They said Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar will become acting finance minister. (AP)

With heavy rainfall in the upper and lower catchment areas of Mahanadi river, flood-like situation is looming over 10 districts of Odisha, officials said on Tuesday.
Holding a review meeting on the situation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asked the collectors of the 10 districts to remain alert and take all possible steps to tackle the flood-like situation.
Patnaik asked the concerned officials to evacuate the people living in the vulnerable areas to a safer place and provide them adequate relief. He also directed the concerned departments to render all kinds of assistance to the affected districts to deal with the situation. (IANS)
A Class 12 girl student who was showing signs of distress on questioning by her teachers revealed the horror story on how she was raped by her father's friends. Following this, the girl's teachers complained to the child helpline officials who approached the local police.
Based on her statement, the police arrested 26-year-old Shaji, who along with two others raped the 15-year-old girl. A search is on for the remaining suspects.(IANS)

Finland will limit Russian tourist visas to 10 per cent of current volumes as of September 1 due to rising discontent over Russian tourism amid the war in Ukraine, the government said Tuesday.

Turkish troops and US-backed Kurdish fighters exchanged heavy shellfire on Tuesday in the northern Syrian border town of Kobane, leaving one civilian dead as the conflict between the warring parties escalated.
Kobane has been relatively calm since US-backed Kurdish fighters pushed back Islamic State fighters from the town in 2015.
