Two coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail train decoupled near the Uluberia area of the Howrah district, last night. According to the Chief Public Relations Officer of South Eastern Railway, Aditya Kumar Choudhary "as soon as the information about the incident was received, we reached the spot. Officials also arrived and started the repair work and the train was dispatched from there soon. An investigation will be conducted to find out why this incident happened."

Delhi mayor's Facebook account hacked

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi tweeted, "This is to inform all that I've been unable to access my Facebook Page since a few days, it has been hacked. We're trying to recover it as soon as possible. If there is any unusual activity through my page, please be aware of it."

The official added that a team is trying to restore the account, but it has not been successful yet.

Blind female elephant dies near the backwaters of Harangi

A female elephant that had lost its eyesight died near the backwaters of Harangi on Friday, moving in Somwarpet taluk since November 26. Though forest officials and local residents chased the elephant back to the forest, it strayed into villages at night.

DCF Bhaskar said, "The residents had demanded to capture the lone tusker. However, the veterinarian had opined that tranquilising an already exhausted elephant would be fatal. Hence officials decided to make the elephant move towards Harangi elephant camp. Using the tamed elephants, a lone tusker was being made to walk towards the elephant camp. However, it collapsed near the backwater of Harangi."

"Veterinary doctor treated elephant with glucose and medicines. However, it failed to recover and died," said the DCF.

BJP Mahila Morcha workers and party leaders protest against the state government over the Belagavi incident in Bengaluru.

A woman was allegedly assaulted, paraded naked, and tied to an electric pole in Vantamuri village of Belagavi district on December 11 after her son eloped with a girl.

National Commission for Women meets victim in Belagavi

National Commission for Women member Delina Khongdup and staff visited Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences District Hospital and inquired about the incident from the woman victim who had been assaulted and paraded naked on Saturday.


Victim from village in Belagavi had been assaulted and paraded naked in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday after her son had eloped with girl from same community on Sunday last.
Delina availed information about the incident from victim. Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil and Police Commissioner S N Sidramappa were present.
