Last month, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw, in an effort to push the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, encouraged citizens to use Indian platforms and switch to Zoho's Arattai Messenger app and productivity tools to create documents, spreadsheets, and visual presentations.

Now, Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that he has switched to the Zoho Mail platform for email communications.

Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu thanked the home minister for trusting the company's communication platform.

"Thank you Sir, for your faith in us I dedicate this moment to our hard working engineers who have toiled hard in Zoho for over 20 years. They all stayed in India and worked all these years because they believed. Their faith is vindicated. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat," said Sridhar Vembu, co-founder of Zoho Corp.

He also shared his email ID-- amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in on the X platform and ended the message with a witty phrase-- 'Thank you for your kind attention to this matter', taking a swipe at US President Donald Trump, who usually ends his message with the same phrase in all capitals.

Trump, for the last few months, has not been on good terms with India, as the latter government firmly denied any third-party intervention during the four-day armed conflict between India and Pakistan in May.

Though China is trading more with Russia, the US Administration singled out India, for buying Oil from Russia, and accused it of aiding the continued attack on Ukraine.

Last month, it hiked the tariffs on several products exported from India, and last month, Trump signed a proclamation that raised the fee for H1-B visas to a staggering USD 100,000 annually. This has greatly affected Indian software professionals in the US.

The US also forced the European Union to impose sanctions on Indian firms dealing with Russian Oil.

To comply with the order, US-based Microsoft suspended IT services to Russia-backed Indian refiner Nayara Energy. The latter went to the Delhi High Court to urge the US company to restore the services.

Later, Microsoft restored email, Azure Cloud server connectivity and other productivity services to Nayara.

Since then, there has been a growing demand among people and government agencies to rely on swadeshi (indigenous) products for work.

With Shah, Prime Minister Modi's closest confidant, announcing the shift to the Zoho Mail platform, the central government seem to be fast-tracking the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative in India and put an end to over-reliance on foreign brands for IT services.
