Focussing attention back to the matter at hand. Babar Azam's Pakistan are looking to make it two wins out of two as they prepare to lock horns with Dasun Shanaka's Sri lanka at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

Sri Lanka meanwhile came up short in a high-scoring encounter against South Africa in Delhi. The Proteas had three centurions in their ranks as they posted 428/5 for Sri Lanka to chase. Shanaka's men tried their best but could only get to 326, ultimately falling short of 102 runs.

Gill has been discharged from hospital after he was admitted for a drop in platelet count. The batter tested positive for dengue upon his arrival in Chennai last week. He missed the Australia game and will also be out of India's second game against Afghanistan in Delhi tomorrow.

What an incredible batting performance from Sri Lanka as they tamed a lethal Pakistan bowling attack. Pathum Nissanka (51) provided a solid start before centurions Kusal Mendis (122) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (108) just took the game away from Babar Azam's men.
Pakistan were able to claw things back in the final 10 overs but that was because the wicket looked a little sticky towards the end. It's left a mountain to climb now for the Pakistani batters if they want to make it back-to-back victories in the tournament.

Really happy about the performance in this match. I didn't get a hundred before. I badly wanted to get a hundred in my career, I am really happy today. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal batted really well, my plan was to be bat positive and give the strike to Kusal Mendis. We both batted really well in that period. That was a great partnership. In the first few overs, when I was batting, the wicket was really good. Last 15 overs, the fast bowlers got some grip. I think it wasn't easy to bat on in the last few overs. An excellent show from Pakistan as they break the record for highest successful run-chase in ODI World Cup history!
It didn't come easy for them though but World Cup debutant Abdullah Shafique (113) provided a solid base with a fighting century and then the experienced Mohammad Rizwan (131*) battled cramps and a suspected back injury to carry his team across the finish line.
Sri Lanka struggled to find support for their main bowlers and the youngster Pathirana especially had a night to forget. But Pakistan will welcome this result ahead of their big game against arch-rivals India next.
'Sometimes cramps and sometimes I was okay,' admits Rizwan
Always a proud moment for me whenever you perform for your country. I am speechless at this moment. It was difficult. The thing was that after the bowling innings we went back and everyone was confident. Unluckily, they got Babar Azam early but we got good partnerships after that. Pakistan go into the high-octane encounter against arch-rivals India in high spirits after this record-breaking run chase. That clash is set for October 14 in Ahmedabad.
