Besides the state-of-the-art heart health tracking sensor, Apple Watches are globally acclaimed for rescuing people in the nick of time during vehicle crashes or hard falls.
In the latest instance, an unnamed American citizen suffered a near-fatal 1000-foot fall from a mountain during a skiing expedition. And, thanks to the SOS emergency button on Apple Watch, he was able to send the alert to the local rescue division of Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, reported Fox News.
Thanks to the precise location-sharing feature, the Air Support Unit of the Sheriff's Office were able to locate him in the night.
Besides the victim, two other skiers had suffered severe injuries. All three victims were flown to the nearest hospital for surgery.
Here too, Apple Watches have saved a lot of lives in India.
In 2022, Smit Nilesh Metha a teenager from Raighad, Maharashtra went on a trekking trip with three of his pals to Visapur Fort in Lonavala on July 11.
But, while returning to the base, Metha unfortunately slipped and fell into a deep valley around 130-150 feet down. The 17-year-old managed to hang on to the shrubs and stopped slipping further down.
Metha was badly injured. The long fall dislocated both his ankles and was rendered immobile. He didn't have his phone with him. Metha tried his best to shout to get the attention of his friends at the top, but couldn't, and got exhausted.
To his good fortune, Metha had an Apple Watch Series 7 on his wrist and was able to call his parents and friends, and send the exact location details. Thanks to precision location details, Metha was finally located and shifted to the nearest hospital.
