Last week, a disturbing trend emerged on the X platform where miscreants are uploading pictures of innocent people, including high-profile female actors, children and asking GrokAI to undress them and transform the pictures into women with skimpy attire.
Grok AI-maker xAI and the X Platform faced flak from users worldwide. India, the European Union, the UK and other government agencies warned Elon Musk-owned entities immediately take down the vulgar posts created by GrokAI and bring stringent measures to prevent blatant misuse of generative Artificial Intelligence.
While the X platform has begun to remove obscene pictures, Elon Musk has also warned of serious consequences, including a ban on users who misuse the social media site.
However, the company has failed to remove the ability of GrokAI to churn such gross images.
Taking serious note of the issue, Indonesia has temporarily blocked the Grok platform.
"To protect women, children, and the entire community from the risk of fake pornographic content generated using artificial intelligence technology, the Government, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital, has temporarily suspended access to the Grok application. The government views the practice of non-consensual sexual deepfakes as a serious violation of human rights, dignity, and the security of citizens in the digital space," reads the note from the Minister of Communication and Digital of the Republic of Indonesia.
Even Malaysia has blocked XAI's Grok in the country. Taking to X platform, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission said X has failed to implement protective measures, so it is temporarily blocking Grok in the country.
Even Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) has codemmened X platform for hosting unregulated use of gen AI feature. And, said it should be removed immediately.
“There is no excuse for releasing products to the global public which can be used to abuse and hurt people, especially children," said IWF.
In India, the X platform has assured to remove all the explicit content, including child sex abuse material (CSAM), permanently ban the guilty users and work with the government and local police agencies to enforce the law.
