OpenAI on Tuesday (August 19) launched the ChatGPT Go subscription plan in India.
In June, India reportedly surpassed the United States to become OpenAI's largest ChatGPT monthly active user base market.
To further consolidate the market share, OpenAI launched an India-only ChatGPT Go plan. There is no official word on when the company plans to expand it to more regions worldwide.
Costing Rs 399 per month, it is the lowest tariff tier offered by OpenAI to offer access to the latest conversational generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) bot ChatGPT 5 with support for Indian languages as well.
Other benefits of ChatGPT Go include 10× more messages compared to the free-tier plan. Additionally, it supports 10× more image generations, 10x more file uploads and 2× longer memory for better conversational context and personalisation.
For coding, it offers access to advanced data analysis tools like Python, and users will also get access to projects, tasks, and custom GPTs to create a personalised chatbot.
However, the ChatGPT Go plan does offer access to the Sora video generation model and ChatGPT-4o.
Besides ChatGPT Go, OpenAI offers two other premium plans-- ChatGPT Plus (Rs 1,999 per month) and ChatGPT Pro (Rs 19,900 per month) with access to more tools, image and Sora video generation capabilities in addition to popular legacy gen AI model ChatGPT-4o.
In India, ChatGPT Go and other plans can be purchased with Unified Payment Interfaces (UPI) apps such as PayTm, Google Pay, PhonePe and other platforms.
