As promised, OpenAI on Tuesday (November 4) launched the limited-time offer on the ChatGPT Go plan for free in India.
Currently, ChaGTP Go costs Rs 399 per month which translates to around Rs 4,788 per annum. It is the lowest tariff tier offered by OpenAI for people to access the conversational generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) bot ChatGPT with support for Indian languages as well.
Benefits of ChatGPT Go plan:
1) People will be able to access the latest ChatGPT 5 AI large language model
2) The 'Go' plan will offer support for 10× more messages compared to the free-tier plan.
3) Additionally, it supports 10× more image generations, 10x more file uploads and 2× longer memory for better conversational context and personalisation.
4) For coding, it offers access to advanced data analysis tools like Python, and users will also get access to projects, tasks, and custom GPTs to create a personalised chatbot.
However, the ChatGPT Go plan does not offer access to the Sora video generation model and legacy ChatGPT-4o.
Also, it should be noted that while subscribing to the ChatGPT GO plan, OpenAI will insist on sharing debit/credit card details and enable autopay mode. This means, once the 12-month period ends, the ChaGTP Go plan will automatically deduct the Rs 399 for the next month.

For instance, if you start the ChatGPT Go plan to day (November 4), the free subsription will end on November 4, 2026. And, on November 5, OpenAI will auto deduct the monthly payment from the bank account. So, if you are planning to stop using ChatGPT Go in November next year, be sure to put reminder in calendar to unsubscribe the service on time.
Here's how to subscribe to ChatGPT Go for free:

Step 1: Login to ChatGPT website and once it opens, OpenAI will flash the ad -- 'get ChatGPT Go for free'. Or, else tap the ChatGPT tab in the top left corner.

Step 3: You will get the option to fill the credit/debit card details with autopay option

Step 4: Once done, you can enjoy the aforementioned benefits for one year.
The move comes amid intense competition from Google and Perplexity AI in India. They are collaborating with top cellular service providers, Reliance Jio and Airtel to offer similar free AI services to subscribers.
Both prepaid and postpaid Jio users are eligible to get 18 months of the Google AI Pro plan worth Rs 35,100 for free. Initially, it will be available to people aged 18 to 25. Other users will get the same benefits in the coming weeks.
Similarly, Airtel prepaid and postpaid users are eligible to access the 12-month Perplexity Pro plan worth Rs 17,000.
