In late 2023, Google began integrating generative Artificial Intelligence Gemini on several native services such as Gmail, Messages, Search, and Phone dialer apps on Android phones.
Now, for the first time, Google has begun offering an option on the Gemini AI mobile app to integrate with third-party app- WhatsApp.
Once turned on, users will be able to just ask Gemini AI bot on Android phones to send messages and even make calls on WhatsApp.
Here's how to enable Gemini AI extension for WhatsApp:
Step 1: On your Android phone, open Gemini.
Step 2: At the top, tap your Profile picture or initial and then select the Extensions tab.
Step 3: Find the WhatsApp extension and turn it off or on.
Step 4: If needed, to give the Gemini app permission to use the extension, tap Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.
It should be noted that the WhatsApp extension for the Gemini AI app is available in select markets including US. As this is being rolled out in phases, it will take some time for the WhatsApp extension to arrive worldwide.
In a related development, Google recently introduced the Gemini AI image generator feature fpr Google Docs.
The Gemini AI image generator is powered by Imagen 3, an advanced multi-modal large language model.
With just text prompts, it can produce photo-realistic images of people, landscapes, and animals with more clarity compared to rival AI models.
It also offers an option for users to decide on the aspect ratio of an image and choose a style such as photography, watercolour and more.
