Instagram is one of the world's most popular social media platforms with more than two billion active users. The primary reason for such popularity is its simple and colourful user interface. Also, with the introduction of the reels (inspired by TikTok) feature in 2020, it has become more popular than its sister platform Facebook.
Now, the Meta-owned entity is bringing several new features to further enhance user experience on its platform.
Once you update the Instagram app, you get access to 17 new sticker packs and over 300 new stickers to share on DMs (Direct Messages).

Users will now be able to personalise names across DMs by adding a nickname for themselves or friends. It should be noted that nicknames will only appear in the DM chats, and won’t change the original username anywhere else on Instagram.

To create a nickname, tap on the chat name at the top of your conversation. Then, tap on nicknames and the username of the person you want to add a nickname for in the chat.
Another notable feature coming to Instagram is live location sharing on DMs. Users can share live location for up to one hour or pin a spot on the map to coordinate arrival times, and activities or find each other in crowded spaces.

This comes in handy in crowded tourist spots or in music concerts for people to reunite without any anxiety of being lost.
Live locations can only be shared privately in DMs, either in a 1:1 or group chat and will automatically expire after one hour.
The new update for Instagram is being rolled out in phases and it may take a few days to reach all users worldwide.
In a related development, Instagram has begun testing a new reset feature that ensures safe, positive, age-appropriate experiences for young users on the social media platform.
In just a few taps, users will be able to clear the recommended content across Explore, Reels and Feed and start fresh.
Users can inform Instagram they like the content recommended on their Explore page by tapping the three dots in the corner of the post and selecting 'Interested'.
The new 'Recommendation Reset' feature is expected to be rolled out globally in the coming weeks on Instagram.
