Since the launch of ChatGPT-powered Copilot in 2023, Microsoft has incorporated generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) features into its productivity tools such as the Edge browser, Office suite of applications like Word, PowerPoint, Excell Sheets and more.
Now, Microsoft has revealed that the popular multimedia application Paint will soon get a dedicated Copilot button. It is now available in the Windows update preview for Paint (v11.2412.271.0) for testers to try out the gen AI features.
The Copilot icon from the toolbar on the Paint app will expand into a drop-down menu where users can easily access features such as Cocreator, Image Creator, Generative Erase, and Remove Background.
However, it should be noted that Cocreator is available only on Copilot+ PCs. Within the dropdown, each feature will also include a short description to help you choose the right tool.
With the Cocreator feature, users can complete a half-drawn sketch with text suggestions to fine-tune the drawing.

With Image Creator, users can just use texts to let the Paint app churn out photo-realistic images.
The Generative Erase, as the name suggests can help the user remove any unwanted objects from a photo. It is similar to the object eraser tool in Android and iPhones.
And, with Remove Background, the Paint app can clear the subject's background and replace it with another one to make it more pleasant to the eyes.
After testing, the new CoPilot gen AI button will be made available on the Paint app soon on Windows PCs.
