Tauseef, who is an animal rights activist, won the award in ‘Best Street Care and Rescue’ category among hundreds of nominations from the best animal rescuers across India.

The 31-year-old activist has been working for animals in and around Mangaluru for the past nine years. He has been associated with ACT (Animal Care Trust) and HART (Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust) NGO’s for many years. He got special recognition for his rescue acts and on-site treatment of more than 7,000 animals, which include small and large animals, snakes and birds.

He has also been participating in campaigns for animals including human outreach programmes and ending slaughter and cruelty.

The IFA recognises exemplary contributions in the field of animal protection from hundreds of nominees from all over India once in every two years. This is the biggest award in India for any animal activist and the trophy this time has come to Mangaluru.
