MySugar Hospital, which was established before Independence to cater to the needs of employees and locals, has remained closed for the past six years due to lack of maintenance and non-availability of staff.

The 25-bed hospital was established on June 22, 1947, and was considered a reputed hospital. Though the hospital was closed, a few doctors who were hired on contract basis for the sake of MySugar employees and locals, were visiting the hospital to provide treatment. However, they too have left the job and there are no doctors for the past six months. The hospital has since been closed and the building left in a dilapidated state.

According to sources, the appointment of a permanent doctor has been delayed due to various reasons. The hospital was handling mostly maternity cases and a large number of people from neighbouring villages were dependent on the hospital. In 2015, the Health Department had deployed the staff of Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences to the hospital. But they were later shifted to the primary healthcare centre in Kyatungere.
