After explaining the salient features of each composition, he rendered the Saint's few keertanas, assisted by his son R S Ramakantha.<br /><br />Saint Tyagaraja (1767-1847) is the most popular composer among the trinities and for him, Lord Rama is "Naada Brahma". He said 'Naadopasana' is the easiest way to attain 'Moksha'. He converted the 'entertaining' music into a means of salvation. <br /><br />Srikantan presented 'Nadopasana' (Bhegade - Adi Taala) in which Tyagaraja has praised "Naadayoga'. Tyagaraja has explained the important elements of good music (composition) - like suswara, good voice, yathi, praasa and bhakthi in the krithi "Sogasuga Mridanga Thalamu" (Sri Ranjini raga, set to Roopaka Tala). RKS said that similar 'opinion' is expressed by Purandara Dasa also in the devaranama "Thaala beku thakka mela beku". She gave a divine background for her recital, explaining nature, saguna-nirguna, 'Devi' in the background of divine nature, Shakthi and Maya and opened with 'Omkara'. Feminine power, tantrik practice; 'Srishti-Laya' were explained before the 'Ardhanareeshwara', which was performed with attractive postures.<br /><br /> With her involvement, vast experience and precise jathies the stately varna 'Mohama na' was impressive, naturally. A chain of compositions in different languages (Muddugara Yashoda, Krishna nee begane baro, ennathum shaidane, Rusalee Radha, Yadava Raya, Swagatham Krishna), with expressive Abhinaya and impressive portrayals were rendered appealingly. Pulikeshi Kasturi (Natuvanga), P Rama (vocal), Janardhan (mridanga), Jayaram (flute), Prasanna (rhythm pad) and Ganesh Kumar (violin) - gave good support from the wings.<br /><br />Anniversary programmes<br /><br />The Shradda Sangeetha Kala Yuvajana Mahila Kalyana Samithi conducted a music festival on the eve of its 7th anniversary. H S Balasubramanyam gave the inaugural Gamaka recital which was followed by a 'Swagatha Geethe' by Bhavani Raveendra Purandarawada. Snehalatha, upcoming artiste, sang 'Vathapi' with well-knit swara. With her good voice she also sang a Vachana (Ullavaru Shivalayava) and a devaranama (Devi Madhavana Thorise).
