At least 50 parents protesting against alleged irregularities in admissions outside Maxfort School in Rohini were detained on Monday morning, and released later.

Over 100 parents have been protesting for 10 days and were planning to sit on a hunger strike on Monday. These detained parents were taken to Begumpur police station.
Parents alleged that school authorities are not transparent about how they admit students under the economically weaker section (EWS) category.
Parents also alleged that the school is taking bribes for seats reserved under EWS.
The school plans to organise a draw of lots on Tuesday. A source in the school said they hoped that the protesting parents would remain in police custody till Tuesday. However, a police official said the persons who were detained were not parents.

“They were not parents but Anna Hazare’s supporters. We had given a warning to them earlier. We had to detain residents who were protesting without permission to gather in a public place,” said C L Meena, SHO of Begumpur police station.
