<p>At least 50 parents protesting against alleged irregularities in admissions outside Maxfort School in Rohini were detained on Monday morning, and released later.<br /></p>.<p>Over 100 parents have been protesting for 10 days and were planning to sit on a hunger strike on Monday. These detained parents were taken to Begumpur police station.<br />Parents alleged that school authorities are not transparent about how they admit students under the economically weaker section (EWS) category.<br />Parents also alleged that the school is taking bribes for seats reserved under EWS.<br />The school plans to organise a draw of lots on Tuesday. A source in the school said they hoped that the protesting parents would remain in police custody till Tuesday. However, a police official said the persons who were detained were not parents.<br /><br />“They were not parents but Anna Hazare’s supporters. We had given a warning to them earlier. We had to detain residents who were protesting without permission to gather in a public place,” said C L Meena, SHO of Begumpur police station.</p>
