<p class="bodytext rtejustify">BJP district president Mattar Ratnakar Hegde said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be visiting Udupi on May 1.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Hegde said that the PM would be addressing a huge rally comprising of more than one lakh people at MGM Grounds. There are 20 programmes lined up for Modi in the state.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">As many as eight candidates from eight Assembly constituencies would be taking part in the rally.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Apart from the five Assembly constituencies in the district, three candidates of BJP from Bhatkal, Ankola and Karwar would also be taking part.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The forenoon programme will also be witnessing the attendance of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, Union Minister Ananth Kumar, Uttara Kannada parliamentarian Anantkumar Hegde, RSS chief Santhosh and parliamentarian Shobha Karandlaje.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">He said that a one-day Mahaabhiyan enabling a door-to-door campaign will be held on April 29 from 7 am to 7 pm. The 1,078 booth workers in the district will be performing the task.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be part of the campaigning in Karnataka. However, the dates are yet to fixed.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Hegde said that Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar had a rarest of rare occasion to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a special app created for the purpose. Modi addressed the MLA with his name and replying to the Prime Minister, Sunil Kumar said that ‘Kamal Khilega’.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">He added that the others from the state who had a unique opportunity are former minister Suresh Kumar and BJP candidate from Nippani, Shashikala Jolle.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">In his reply the prime minister stressed on making the country free from Congress culture.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The four-year rule by BJP has indeed been a ray hope for the poor and downtrodden, Modi said.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The government is committed to the farmers and backward classes, Modi said.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">PM alleged that Congress is dependent on religious politics, which would surely be rejected by the voters, he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">In reply to a query on a video going viral about the personal life of BJP candidate Raghupathi Bhat, Hegde said that an FIR has been registered against the accused. However, he declined to divulge more information. He reiterated that there are no differences in the party.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">He added that if required, an enquiry would be conducted against the culprits after the polls.</p>
