The company disclosed this three days after it declared lockout at its Naganathpura plant where 715 permanent workers had resorted to ‘go slow’ and ‘tools down’ agitation.
Bosch Senior Vice-President, Finance & Administration, Diesel System, Soumitra Bhattacharya told reporters here “the company may be compelled to declare a lockout (in Bangalore main unit) if we don’t have normalcy returning.” Workers in this plant too has resorted to ‘go slow’ tactic, he said. “We do not want a lockout, but we may be forced to if the union and associates do not go back to normal production,” he said describing the lockout as the last resort.
Go-slow
The union has been on ‘go-slow’ strike since February 12 resulting in 40 per cent reduction in production, he added.
The company is incurring a loss of Rs 1 crore per day in Naganathpura plant and Rs 3 crore in the Bangalore unit. Its clients are incurring a total product turnover loss of Rs 1,000 crore monthly, he claimed.
He pointed out that the company was willing to lift the lockout at Naganathapura provided the employees restore normal production levels and agree to the terms of management.
