Rubrik plans to triple workforce in 18 months

Cloud data management company Rubrik will hire at least 200 more employees for its India office in the next 18 months.

Based in Palo Alto, Rubrik was founded in 2014 by engineers from Google, Facebook, Oracle, and it began its India operations a year ago.

On Monday, the company opened a new office in Bengaluru. "We are planning to grow aggressively in India. At present, there are 100 employees and we will take this number to 300 in 18 months," Bipul Sinha, Co-founder and CEO of Rubrik said.

It employs about 1,000 people across 29 countries, and it approaches $300 million run-rate. Rubrik, which has developed the first Cloud Data Management platform for data protection, search, analytics, archival and copy data management for hybrid cloud enterprises, has raised $292 million so far in venture capital from leading venture capital firms such as IVP, Lightspeed Ventures, Greylock Partners and Khosla Ventures.

It recently launched Polaris, which is the industry's first SaaS platform for data management applications. "India is a big market for us and with digitisation there is more scope for growth," Sinha said, adding the company will continue to expand globally.

It acquired Datos IO to expand its cloud data management offerings by adding support for cloud-native applications, NoSQL databases and big data file systems. Sinha said going forward, they will also look at acquisitions.

Rubrik's partners in India include global integrators like HCL and Cognizant, and it has 10-12 customers in India.
