Three Congress candidates have emerged as top contenders for the mayor's post.
Gangambike, corporator of Jayanagar, Lingarajapuram corporator Lavanya Ganesh and Soumya Shivakumar from Shanthinagar ward are the frontrunners.
However, senior Congress leaders are at loggerheads over finalising the candidates as they belong to Reddy, Vokkaliga and Lingayat communities.
A senior leader said a meeting will be held on September 26 with KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao and former chief minister Siddaramaiah to finalise the candidate. He also said a key position in the standing committees will be given to JD(S).
Meanwhile, senior JD(S) leaders held a meeting on Saturday to decide on the possible names for the deputy mayor's post.
