According to the police, the victim, who is a resident of Vijayanagar, got down at the Majestic metro station and was walking with her female friend to a platform in the BMTC bus stand. An elderly man then came from behind and groped her before quickly walking away.

The shocked victim raised an alarm and started chasing the man. Sensing trouble, the man began to run. The victim and her friend, with the help of a few NCC students who joined the chase, caught the man and handed him over to the police. The police observed that the suspect walked around the bus stand with his trouser zip open.

The Upparpet police have identified the suspect as Subbanna Bhat, who was unemployed and not living with his family.
