Armed gang hacks rowdy to death

An armed gang hacked a rowdy to death in Kalyan Nagar on Wednesday night.

Prashanth (32), was riding pillion with his friend Uday Kumar on the 100 feet road in Kalyan Nagar when a gang of five in a car, intercepted him around 11.45 pm, police said.

Prashanth, a resident of Flower Garden, tried to flee, but the gang chased and hacked him several times before crushing his head with a boulder.

The gang then sped away. Uday Kumar escaped the attack. Later, Kumar returned and informed the police. Cops rushed to the spot and shifted the body for postmortem.

Prashanth had a dozen cases against him. He and his brother Vinod Raj, were into supplying canned water and had enmity with business rivals. The rivals had killed Prashanth’s brother too, getting arrested in that case.

Accused Shivaraj, out on bail, approached Prashanth’s mother Menakamma, offering money to withdraw the case. She declined and said her younger son will avenge her elder son's murder.

Shivaraj and others attacked Prashanth before he could act.
