BBMP deputes team for facilitating immersion in 3 lakes

To ensure the smooth immersion of Ganesha and Gauri idols in the city, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has arranged a series of facilities for devotees at nearly 400 places. It has deputed a special team to Halsur, Sankey and Yediyur lakes- prominent lakes in Bengaluru where immersion takes place on a large scale.

“We have done special barricading at these lakes, directing devotees only to the kalyanis and preventing them from approaching the main lake. The special team will ensure the safety of the people by helping them in immersing their idols in the water body. These three lakes will also be under CCTV surveillance. There is also a team deployed for segregation of waste as and when it is accumulated,” added the commissioner.

The BBMP team will be present between 9 am and 11 am for the next 10 days until the immersion culminates.

The BBMP has also made elaborate arrangements for kalyanis aka artificial tanks near 22 lakes.

“We have set up artificial kalyanis and mobile tankers at areas that are far from the lakes. All the devotees are expected to strictly adhere to the rules made by the palike at respective lakes,” said Manjunath Prasad, BBMP Commissioner.

The immersion facilities have been arranged at Halsur lake, Sankey tank, Yediyur lake, Kaikondrahalli lake, Agara lake, Kasavanahalli lake, Doddanekundi lake, Doddakanenahalli lake, Devarabeesanahalli lake, Munnekolalu lake, Dorakere lake, Herohalli lake, Ullala lake, Mallathahalli lake, Dasarahalli lake, Jakkur lake, Rachenahalli lake, Palanahalli lake, Yelhanka lake, Attur lake, Allasandra lake, Singasandra lake and Doddabommasandra lake.

“We have made the details of immersion available to the citizens of all wards. They can immerse their idols in the nearest possible waterbody,” he added.
