BDA gets new chairman

ST Somashekhar was appointed as new chairman of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). He took charge on Thursday.

After holding an hour long puja at his new chamber, he was greeted by his followers, fans and other party members.

BDA Commissioner Rakesh Singh and Additional Chief Secretary Mahendra Jain also greeted him with floral bouquets. He was also greeted by Byrathi Basavaraj.

While many people greeted Somashekar with floral bouquets and shawls, the highlight was a fresh apple garland. After Somashekar was garlanded the apple garland was safely packed in a basket and taken away, while the floral garlands and bouquets were discarded.

Somashekar reached BDA early and grand puja started at 10.55 am. He had also hosted a grand breakfast for people at BDA head office premises. There was no dearth of food and it was like a mass feeding programme which is a common sight in his constituency.

Despite government orders, plastic bottles were used in full capacity and were seen strewn around everywhere.

Footwear kept outside building to maintain an auspicious atmosphere Police security was heightened around BDA head office. Entry for vehicles was also banned inside the premises.
