Bike-borne men rob professor’s smartphone

Professor Ravindranath P, working at the Indian Institute of Science and Technology and a native of Thiruvananthapuram, and his friend chased the bike till Anil Kumble Circle, but the bikers sped away as the professor’s cab lay stranded at the signal.

The incident happened around 1 am when Ravindranath, who had come to attend a national-level conference, came to MG Road to have dinner with his friend.

Post dinner, they walked for a few metres and booked a cab and stood waiting at the Ashirvadam junction.

Ravindranath was busy giving directions to the cab driver when the man riding pillion snatched his device and the bike sped away. Ravindranath raised an alarm, jumped into his approaching cab and chased the bike. In the hurry, he failed to
note down the bike’s registration number.

The Cubbon Park police have registered a case and are trying to identify the robbers using CCTV footage.
