An elderly man was brutally assaulted by three passersby who picked a quarrel with him because he had parked his car haphazardly in eastern Bengaluru’s Kadugodi on Sunday, police said.

Gajendra Singh (54), who works for HAL, had parked his car “haphazardly” outside his home in Belathur Colony. Around 2.30 pm, three passersby — later identified as Azam, Shabbir and Saleem — asked him to park the car properly. Singh asked them to mind their own business, enraging the trio who were quick to pick a quarrel. In a fit of rage, they attacked him with a machete and didn’t even spare his friend, Lakshmish (58), when he rushed to his help.

A passerby who witnessed the assault alerted the police control room. The jurisdictional Kadugodi police rushed to the spot but the assailants fled the spot by then, abandoning their weapons. Police seized the weapons and took the victims to a Hospital. They later tracked down Shabbir and Saleem while Azam is still on the run.
