An unidentified man stole Rs 3 lakh worth of gold jewellery from a Mumbai-based geneticist when she was busy attending a science conference at the Le Meridien hotel on May 24.
The victim, Dr Manjeet Mehta, in a complaint to the High Grounds police stated that she had kept her jewellery in her purse while listening to the lectures. But when she came back to her room, she found the jewellery missing.
She also claimed that the hotel management had allowed unauthorised persons to enter the hotel premises.
The CCTV footage of the conference room clearly shows a man, sitting behind her, stealing the jewellery from her purse.
The High Grounds police have taken the footage of the hotel and are investigating the case.
