Police arrest robbers; recover actor’s stolen money

The Bengaluru district police arrested two gangs, who used attention diversion as tactics to rob money.

They recovered the money stolen from actor Vinod Raj on September 28 by one of the gangs that diverted his attention as he was returning from the bank.

The police arrested a three-member gang that targeted those coming from the bank. They diverted their attention to snatch the money bag.

A senior police officer said though they had arrested the accused in the Vinod Raj case long ago, they could not recover the money until recently. Now, they got back Rs 80,000 and also the two-wheeler used by the accused Samson, a native of Kuppam in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

He said three more people needed to be arrested in that case and there are cases booked against them in Ballari, Mumbai, Shirdi and Pune. Efforts are on to nab them, the official added.

Two related cases

In another case, the police swooped down on a gang that stole money from people using diversionary tactics. They arrested Arjun, Rakesh, Sunil, Vijay and S Bhaskar, while they are on the hunt for three more people. They recovered Rs 5.20 lakh and two bikes from the gang and are searching for the main suspect.

In one more case, the police arrested a three-member gang that broke into a mobile showroom in Madanayakanahalli and took away cell phones worth Rs 10.50 lakh. The arrested are Raghu, Manja and Kabbala, who hail from Mysuru.
