Son-in-law assaults Kannada film producer

A Kannada film producer was assaulted by his son-in-law over a domestic issue in Subramanyanagar police limits on Friday.

Kadur Umesh, 48, a resident of Subramanyanagar, was rushed to Columbia Asia Hospital. He is said to be out of danger. Umesh produced Suntaragali, a Kannada movie released in 2006.

According to the police, Umesh’s daughter is married to Mahesh, 28, a resident of Koramangala. She had parted ways with her husband over some differences and had gone back to her parents’ house in Subramanyanagar.

Mahesh often fought with her father, blaming him for instigating his daughter to not go back to her husband, said the police. Mahesh went to his in-laws house on Friday afternoon and demanded that his wife come with him. 

Heated argument
When she refused, a heated argument broke out. Umesh intervened and directed Mahesh to leave his house. Mahesh punched his father-in-law and left. Umesh was rushed to the hospital, said the police. The police have booked Mahesh under IPC Sections 323 (causing hurt), 343 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 341 ( wrongful restraint) and have launched a search operation to arrest him.
