A major leak of Cauvery water from an air valve close to Rajarajeshwarinagar near the busy Mysuru Road arch remains unattended for over two months.

It is one of the major pipelines carrying water from various pumping stations located outside Bengaluru. But, the maintenance officials of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) are yet to notice the leak.

“Sometimes when there is too much water pressure, the water flows like a fountain,” said Thirthahalli Anantha Kallapura, a local resident.

Since February 1, the water is leaking from the valve, added Kallapura.

“So many BWSSB officials pass by this road. It is very unfortunate that no one has noticed or even bothered to rectify the problem. Bengaluru is already reeling under severe water crisis this summer. This leakage is an eyesore,” complained Kallapura.

When BWSSB officials were alerted about the leakage they said the gasket in the air valve is loose, which needs to be rectified. The official said the air valve will be repaired by Thursday.
