Villagers protest against tusker menace

Villagers said that their demand for solar fences from Kajur quarters to Sajjalli Jain Gate to prevent wild elephant attack was not fulfilled by the department. They lamented that cultivation worth Rs one crore was destroyed by wild elephants. They pointed out that a wild elephant had entered the coffee plantation belonging to farmer K A Palaksha to give birth to its calf. Villagers pointed out that they were living in fear.

DCF Shashidhar speaking to villagers said that the matter has already been discussed. Measures to install solar fences will be taken soon, he added.

Meanwhile, The Yadavare Elephant Action Committee warned of a road picketing at Kooverkolli Junction on June 26, if their demands were not met.
