No move on formation of new taluks: Bopaiah

Speaking to presspersons after receiving memorandum from Napoklu taluk formation committee office-bearers, he said “sub committee of Cabinet meeting is not held so far. In this background, how can we give final touch to the formation of new taluks,” he asked.

The district administration has recommended for the formation of Napoklu in Madikeri, Kushalnagar in Somwarpet and Ponnampet in Virajpet taluk. “The demands of the Kodagu is still alive. Once again I will discuss the matter with the government.” Napoklu Taluk Formation Committee Convener B B Muthappa and President B C Ponnappa submitted a memorandum to the MLA.

The memorandum stated that Kodagu district was under British rule till 1883 and then he district was divided into six taluks, each under taluk Subedhar.   Every taluk was divided into Naadu. The district had 24 Naadu and 508 villages.

Every Naadu was under the control of ‘Parvathigar’ and the post is equivalent to present Deputy Tahsildar. The administrative work was carried out quickly that time.”
