Heavenly blooms at Curzon park

District In-charge Minister S A Ramdas inaugurated the show, even as the fragrance of the flowers, the vegetables and the ornamental plants beckoned the visitors.

There are more than 3500 varieties of flower plants, vegetable plants and ornamental plants that have adorned the Curzon Park premises.

The highlight of the show is model of 12 ft ‘Gandabherunda’ prepared using more than 30,000 roses. While, the stage also presents a flower palanquin for the idol of Goddess Chamdundeshwari.

Despite rains, the first day of the flower show attracted hundreds of flower and ornamental plant lovers to the venue. The flowers like marigold, gladiola, lilly, chrysanthemum, Dahlia, different kinds of roses, decorative plants and numerous other species present a feast to the eyes of visitors. The other interesting part of the show is the vegetables grown in pots.
A myriad varieties of cucumber, brinjal, ladies finger, chillies, onions, ground nuts and others amazed people owing to their variety and sizes.

Drawfed trees on the lines of Bonsai had many admirers too. The horticulture department has also opened several stalls selling the ornamental and flowering plants.

MLC Prof K R Mallikarjunappa, Thontadarya, Mayor Sandesh Swamy and others accompanied the Minister.
