Officials suspended over Mantri project goof up

Assistant revenue officer (Chamarajpet) H Gultaj Fathima and revenue inspector Ananthramiah have been suspended for the alleged irregularities in the multi-storeyed Mantri Tranquil at Gubbalalu, which has come up in an area of 19 acres and 13 guntas.

According to a BBMP release, Mantri Developers has been accused of not paying betterment charges, creating fake records and bogus khata certificates. The revenue records at the BBMP show that the buildings came up in Khata number 1208 whereas it is built on Khata number 1018. The officials did not correct the records and let the building come up on bogus records, which the Palike authorities found an act warranting severe punishment.

The matter came to light when the Leader of Opposition M Nagaraj, a Congress Corporator from Nandini Layout, held a press conference some three months ago pointing out towards a multi-crore scam.

The BBMP release said the developers built about 800 flats without paying the dues to the Palike. The two suspended officials have been ordered not to vacate their head office.
