Police identified the accused as V Narayanan and said he was arrested on October 26, based on a complaint from Arvind Mukherjee, Under Secretary to the Government of India.
Narayanan had made about 50 phone calls to the special secretaries of Kerala Forest Minister, demanding that he and 50 other persons be allowed to visit Ponnambalamedu in Kerala, closed for public, to view the famous Makarajyothi. He had also furnished bogus letters in this regard, police said.
Subsequently, a complaint was preferred by Mukherjee, following which Narayanan was arrested, police said, adding he was later remanded in judicial custody.
