Mangalore-Delhi flight cancellation irks MP

Last Updated 31 October 2010, 16:27 IST

In a letter dated October 28, written to the Indian Airlines Director (Personnel) Anup Srivasthav, the MP said “earlier there was no direct flight between Mangalore and Delhi. The passenger had to fly either through Bangalore or Mumbai. This would not only cause delay in journey but also waste of time. At this juncture, Indian Airlines had started Mangalore-Delhi direct flight three months ago, which will be cancelled from November 1.”

“The reason for intended cancellation is neither known to the public nor to me, the MP of this area. The intention of cancellation of this flight is unreasonable. The public specially the business class as well as the regular commuter feel that it was an unwarranted decision,” the letter said. He urged the officials to reconsider the decision on the cancellation of the flight number 7613 from Mangalore-Delhi.
