JOIN USParyaya Putthige Shri Krishna mutt is organising ‘Yakshagana sapthothsava’ to felicitate the renowned Yakshagana artiste Dr Bhaskarananda Kumar at Rajangana of Udupi Shri Krishna mutt from May 10 to 16.
Speaking to the media, honourary president of Yakshagana sapthothsava Samithi Dr H S Ballal informed that the week-long yakshagana feast would be inaugurated by Paryaya Putthige seer Shri Sugunendratheertha Sripada. Karnataka Yakshagana Academy President Kumble Sunder Rao will preside. Kannada Sahithya Parishath former president Harikrishna Punaroor will be the chief guest. Renowned astrologer Kabbadi Jayaram Acharya will be present on the occasion, he said.
The sapthothsava will display seven Yakshagana plays with Dr Bhaskarananda Kumar in the lead. “Sharasethu Bandana,” “Ravanavadhe,” “Bheeshma parva” of Thenkathittu and “Veedhuratheethya,” “Guhatheethya,” “Valivadhe” and “Jambhavathi Kalyana” of Badaguthittu are the Yakshaganas put on show on the seven days of the festival.
Pejawar Seer Vishveshatheertha Sripada and Yadaneeru mutt Seer Shri Keshavananda Bharathi Mahaswami will deliver spiritual blessings at the valedictory ceremony. Dr Bhaskarananda Kumar and his wife Nalini Bhaskarananda Kumar will be felicitated on the occasion, Dr Ballal informed.
Working Presidents of the Samithi Dr H S Shantharam, Dr P L N Rao, President Tallur Shivaram Shetty, Secretaries Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Murali Kadekar and others were present at the press meet.
