Stock trader fined for filing frivolous complaint

Last Updated 09 January 2011, 17:48 IST

The complainant, N V Bandekar, had a landline connection at his Basaveshwarnagar home and got an internet connection using broadband, for online trading.

He requested BSNL to shift the landline connection to Kodigehalli, but delay in doing so caused him financial loss, he told the Forum.

BSNL officials submitted that due to technical problems and the requirement of three months to get permission from BBMP for laying underground cables, they were unable to shift the landline and had offered him wireless connection, which he had refused. Hence, there was no deficiency in service, BSNL said.

Forum President T Rajashekharaiah ordered Bandekar to pay Rs 5,000 as costs to BSNL.

Promise falls flat

The Bangalore IV Additional Consumer  Forum has ordered Kubera and Fortuna Promoters to repay Rs one lakh and pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to T K Kiran Kumar, who is still waiting for a flat promised to him by the firm.

‘Compensate winners'

In another case, two complainants, Abdul Jabbar and Tabassum, were misled by various offers made by The Country Vacations International Holiday Club, to which they paid Rs two lakh.

They were told that they had won a prize in a lucky draw and were then lured to join the club. The prize never came and they were duped.

The Forum has ordered the club to refund Rs two lakh to them, with interest at 18 per cent.

Country Club fined

The Forum has also ordered Rajiv Reddy, Chairman of Country Club, to refund Rs 1.25 lakh to Pankaj Kumar Goel, along with Rs 3,666 as interest.

Goel was offered two sites near Devanahalli by the club, but the sites were never given.
