1.66 lakh enrolled under 'Yashaswini' scheme

As many as 1,66,538 members are enrolled until August 2010 in the district under the Yashaswini Sahakari Raitha Arogya Rakshana scheme, according to C Basavegowda, Chairman of Mysore and Chamarajanagar District Central Co-Operative Bank.

Speaking at a meeting of the bank here, Basavegowda said that a target of enrolling three lakh members is fixed for the district in the current financial year.

Until August, 1.66 lakh members are enrolled and a membership fee of ` 230.62 lakh has been collected.

Under the scheme in 2009-10, a total of 5,806 members have been treated as outpatients and 3,181 as inpatients.    ` 308.36 lakh has been spent on the treatment of patients in network hospitals within and outside the district. In 2010-11, 4,654 persons were treated as outpatients and 1,803 as inpatients till December.

The expenditure incurred on them was ` 188.02 lakh. The performance of the district is better than the previous year, he added.

Those who participated in the meeting include district surgeon Dr Vamanadeva and deputy registrar of Cooperative Societies Janardhan.
