The advocates, who marched in a procession from the High Court to Raj Bhavan, in a memorandum, requested the Governor not to "pre-judge" the fact-finding investigations of two statutory bodies -- Lokayukta and the Judicial Commission.

Referring to the complaint filed before the Governor by a Forum of Lawyers, seeking permission to prosecute Yeddyurappa and Home Minister R Ashoka, the advocates contended that the charge "is ridden with mala fides." The lawyers raised slogans like "stop politicisation of Raj Bhavan" and "Raj Bhavan is not extension of No 10 Janpath" (residential address of Congress President Sonia Gandhi) in a charge against the party for its alleged attempt to misuse the Governor's office.

The BJP government yesterday at its cabinet meeting had passed a resolution urging the Governor not to give consent to prosecute the Chief Minister and Home Minister.
