In a memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the all-party delegation sought the intervention of the Centre to introduce a "suitable amendment" to Article 371 on the lines of Article 371D which governs the state of Andra Pradesh to provide for regional reservation to the state of Karnataka.

The delegation also requested the Prime Minister to look into the problems being faced by farmers involved in sericulture and arecanut farming. Law Minister M Veerapopa Moily and Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge, who belong to Karnataka, were also present in the meeting.

"The Prime Minister has promised to look into the issues raised by us...he has said he would take up the issues with concerned ministries," Yeddyurappa told PTI after the meeting.
