The deceased has been identified as H D Madaiah (65), whose land had been notified for acquisition by the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB). The notice had been dispatched from the Special Land Acquisition Office in Mysore recently.
While 28.11 acre was identified for acquisition, about two acres belonging to Madaiah was also decided to be included. Family members said that Madaiah was troubled after he heard the news.
Coming out in support of the bereaved’s family, District Hasiru Sene President H C Maheshkumar has slammed the KHB for taking up agricultural land. Snatching land from farmers with small landholding should be stopped immediately, he added.
He also warned of intense agitations if the district administration failed to provide compensation to the family of the deceased.
