Vijender Singh's contract with PepsiCo not renewed

"In the next one month I will sign up for at least two to three new brands as ambassador," Vijender Singh told PTI, but did not provide details. In the meantime, his manager said Singh's two-year contract with PepsiCo that expired recently is not being renewed.

"PepsiCo had signed up a two-year contract with Singh, which has recently expired. There are no plans to renew the same," Percept Talent Management's Renuka Choudhary said.

PepsiCo officials were not available for comments. Singh is currently the face of a host of brands, including Gillette, Siyaram's Suitings, Nike and Venky's Chicken. After his success in the Commonwealth Games 2010, which was followed up with a bronze medal at the Asian Games at Guangzhou in China, Singh has been drawing increased interest from corporates.

"There is a lot of interest from corporates who wish to sign endorsement deals with him," Choudhary said. Singh had signed a multi-crore image management contract with Percept Talent Management in 2009 and is reported to be worth around Rs 3 crore a year on the back of his bronze medal-winning effort at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. Born in 1984, Singh became the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic Medal when he finished third in the 75 kg category.

He also won a gold medal at the CWG 2010 held here.
