Gadkari bats for Yeddyurappa

Participating in the CII annual meet here, Gadkari said “You may agree or not, it may be correct or not. It is my decision (for allowing Yeddyurappa in the chief minister’s post) and I take full responsibility for this.”

On the issue of the chief minister facing allegations of favouring his relatives with land allotments, Gadkari said “When there was no government or judicial report on this issue in Karnataka, on what base the state government could be taken to task. There is problem of this perception against the chief minister due to a campaign in the media against him.”

Referring to 2G scam, he said corruption in spectrum allocation and CWG corruption were raised only after reports by the CAG and Supreme Court. But there is no such indictment of Yeddyurappa, he said.

He also said that denotification of land and discretionary allotments done by Yeddyurappa were permitted by the law passed by the Karnataka Assembly. “Though same discretionary powers were exercised by the previous Chief Ministers H D Kumaraswamy, Dharam Singh and S M Krishna as well, facts were not properly presented by people in this case," he said.
