Last Updated 22 April 2011, 16:35 IST

With BJP member Asha Thimmappa Gowda withdrawing her nomination from the Agriculture and Industries Standing Committee, Congress member Ambika Shetty who was not given any post in the previous special meeting, was appointed as the member in the Agriculture and Industries Standing Committee. With this, all the 35 Zilla Panchayat members were allotted the membership of one or the other among the five committees.

The Congress members had threatened of mass resignation for barring the Congress member Ambika Shetty from holding post in any of the committees. They  said either all the 11 Congress members should be in the Standing Committee or the rest 10 members would resign.

However in the Thursday’s special meet, ZP President Shailaja Bhat decided to include Ambika Shetty in the Agriculture and Industries Standing Committee, by asking Asha Thimmappa Gowda to withdraw the nomination, as shealready holds the membership of Finance, Auditing and Programme Committee.

The newly formed Agriculture and Industries Standing Committee includes Navin Kumar Menala, Tulasi Harabe, Keshava Gowda, Asha R Suvarna, Kumari, Shailesh Kumar, Ambika Shetty.
