Gang of four adept in robbing tourists nabbed

If he believed in them, they were taking him to a secluded place, only to rob him of his valuables.

Deploying similar modus operandi this gang of four had relieved three of their belongings in the last two months. Now, they are behind bars, thanks to N R Police who have put stop to their act. The accused are identified as- Rasool, 25 years, Habeebulla Shariff, 21, auto driver, Idayath, 25 and Sikander Khan alias Sikander, 24, residents of A J Block, N R Mohalla. They were apprehended on May 17.

Valuables worth ` one lakh comprising a bracelet, gold chain, six cellphones among others have been recovered from them.Incidentally, all the victims were Kerala tourists. K J Bijjuraj was robbed of his two mobiles on March 17 in Udayagiri, followed by Sujith of his gold chain, bracelet, one cell and `three thousand in cash on April 15. Recently, the gang had robbed Sumeel Raj of his three cells and ` 6,300 in cash on May10.

An autorickshaw and two-wheeler, besides a long (sharp edged weapon) are  also seized.

The  team was led by Inspector K N Yeshwanth Kumar.
