Sethu makes it to twin semifinals; Waheed wins

After powering past Bhaskar Reddy 7-5, 6-1 in his singles quarterfinal encounter, Sethu teamed up with K Vijay Kumar to put it past Yogesh Shah and Gururaj 6-2, 6-3 in the last eight of the doubles competition.

In the plus-35 category, Md Waheed and Purshotham had to sweat it out to secure a place in the last four.

Waheed overcame Armugam 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2) and Purshotham edged out Ramesh 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in their quarterfinal matches on Friday. However, Suresh Kumar and Sumanth had no such qualms as the duo eased into semifinals.
