Protests to support Ramdev held

He was addressing members of various organisations who had gathered near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Wednesday., in suport of yoga guru Baba Ramdev and the crusader of anti-corruption campaign, Anna Hazare.

Pointing out that corruption had a long history, he said that the practise first started during the time of the British. He said that during the tenure of Jawaharlal Nehru as the prime minister, a foreign company was given 50 year lease for mining. There is a possibility that the deal was also approved due to corruption.

He said that there is a need to intensify the struggle being headed by Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev.

Condemning the Centre for undertaking the crackdown on Ramdev and his supporters at Ramlila grounds in Delhi recently, he termed the incident as ‘shameful’. Continuing, he expressed anguish at the action of the police. Lashing out at the government, he said that it has indulged in acts usually carried out by terrorists.

He said that it was necessary for Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare to join hand to fight the corruption menace. He said that definite road map should be prepared to ensure that the menace of corruption is ended.

The seer said  instead of keeping several demands before the government, demands such as bringing back the black money and strengthening the Jan Lokpal Bill should be sought.

Expressing his differences against the demands to ban Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes made by Ramdev, the seer said that it was 'unacceptable'.

ABVP Protest

Students under the banner of ABVP staged a demonstration supporting the measures taken by Hazare and Ramdev.
