Ravi Poojary's associates held

Vasanth Kumar and Prasad Shetty are the two arrested. The CCB sleuths swung into action upon receiving complaints from builders and granite dealers that Ravi Poojary has been threatening them over phone and sending his associates to extort money. The two used to approach businessmen, make telephone calls to Ravi Poojary on the spot, who in turn was threatening them with dire consequences.

Laptop thieves nabbed

The Railway Police have nabbed five persons who were stealing laptops from train passengers. The accused are Mageshan, Karunakaran, Balakumar, Rajendran and Balamurugan, all from Tamil Nadu. Laptops worth Rs 3.28 lakhs along with two digital cameras have been recovered from them. The accused used to get into railway compartments posing themselves as passengers, police said.

Mowed down

An unidentified person was mowed down by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus on Wednesday. The registration number of the BMTC bus has been reported as KA 01 F 2264. Police have attributed the accident to reckless driving.

The deceased appears to be 50 years of  age and a ticket from Hosur to Bangalore was found in his pocket. A case has been registered against the driver at Chamarajpet  police station.
